The facets of her art and the seasons of her life are captured in this special documentary P. BUCKLEY MOSS: THE LADY BEHIND THE BRUSH, which follows Pat’s life story with archival photos and video, along with interviews with her family, close associates, and P. Buckley Moss Society and Foundation officers. P BUCKLEY MOSS will air on Monday, December 2 at 7 p.m. on KTWU-HD, Digital Channel 11.1.

P. Buckley Moss is one of America’s most prized living artists. An alumna of New York’s prestigious Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Pat Moss is a formally educated and accomplished artist, highly regarded by academics and collectors alike. Her art is represented in over 200 galleries worldwide.

Having achieved success, she devotes a great deal of her time and effort to helping others. Donations of P. Buckley Moss art have raised over four million dollars for worthy charities. The P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education is devoted to promoting the use of art in the classroom, especially as a means to teach children with learning differences.

But in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, more than 100,000 pioneering young women left their homes to work in the restaurants of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe depots. See this exploration of the lives, experiences and contributions of these women who were the face of the Fred Harvey Restaurant empire. Carol Burnett — comedic icon and all-around performing legend — is the guest of honor when the comedy world convenes to toast this year’s recipient of the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The all-star cast includes Julie Andrews, Lucie Arnaz, Tony Bennett, Tim Conway, Tina Fey, Rashida Jones, Vicki Lawrence, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short and Rosemary Watson. The program features comedic highlights from Burnett’s half-century in show business. The program airs on Sunday, November 24, 7 PM, on KTWU-HD, Digital Channel 11.1.

CONDUCTING HOPE Prison Choir Doc Has National TV Premiere on KTWU

CONDUCTING HOPE is a documentary film that tells the story of the inmates at Lansing Correctional Facility who make up the “East Hill Singers”, the only secular prison choir in the country allowed to perform outside prison walls. Through the power of music, can we reduce the nation’s shockingly high rate of recidivism by building inmates’ self-esteem and giving them hope? CONDUCTING HOPE premieres on KTWU on  Thursday, November 7, at 7 PM on Digital Channel 11.1. KTWU has distributed this program nationwide and it will air on PBS stations during the month of November.

Donations to KTWU Lights, Camera, Auction 2013! with values of $1000 or more are again a highlight of the upcoming  broadcast. This weekend, November 8 – 10, hundreds of items donated by local merchants and national sponsors will be auctioned off in support of local public television. Lights, Camera, Auction 2013! will be broadcast on KTWU-HD, Digital Channel 11.1.

On the final night, Sunday, November 10, beginning at 7 p.m., Lights, Camera, Auction 2013! offers up the most expensive donor valued items that have been collected. Many items from far and wide will again take center stage for what has come to be regarded as the most fun evening of the entire auction.

RAIN, A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES is a live multi-media spectacular that takes you on a musical journey through the life and times of the world’s most celebrated band. This new RAIN performance presents hits that you know and love from the vast anthology of Beatles classics such as “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “Hard Day’s Night,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Let It Be,” “Come Together” and “Hey Jude.” RAIN – A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES airs on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 8 p.m. on KTWU-HD, Digital Channel 11.1.

This stunning concert event takes viewers back in time to the legendary foursome delivering a note-for-note performance that is the next best thing to being there with the original Beatles. In Rain, vocalists, musicians and entertainers Joey Curatolo, Joe Bithorn, Ralph Castelli, Steve Landes and Mark Lewis perform the Beatles’ hits live and recreate the numerous iconic looks made famous by the rock band.

From the early days of their appearance on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ in 1964 through Sgt. Pepper and on to the Abbey Road years, Rain performs it all. The multi-media concert recaptures the era through all phases of The Beatles astounding musical career including Shea Stadium, the psychedelic late 60s and The Beatles long-haired hippie, hard-rocking rooftop days. A fusion of historical footage and hilarious television commercials lights up video screens and live cameras zoom in for close-ups.

The live stage performance of RAIN, A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES is coming to the Topeka Performing Arts Center on Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. During the KTWU television broadcast on Friday, November 1st, viewers will have a chance for a special ticket offer that includes a ‘meet and greet’ with RAIN before the live performance.
