ELECTION 2012 Coverage on KTWU/PBS will offer prime time Presidential Debates, Vice Presidential Debate and a Kansas Second Congressional Forum this month on KTWU-HD, Digital Channel 11.1. Local public television, in conjunction with the national coverage of the PBS NEWSHOUR, keeps Kansans informed on the candidates and issues. Special programming highlights include:

PBS NEWSHOUR DEBATES: 2012 PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE – Wednesday, October 3, 8 PM. The NEWSHOUR presents live coverage and analysis of the presidential candidates’ debates moderated by Jim Lehrer, Executive Editor of the PBS NewsHour, University of Denver.

PBS NEWSHOUR DEBATES: 2012 VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE – Thursday, October 11, 8 PM. The NEWSHOUR presents live coverage and analysis of the vice presidential candidates’ debate moderated by Martha Raddatz, Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent, ABC News, Centre College.

RACE 2012 – Tuesday, October 16, 7 PM. The 2012 presidential election provides Americans the opportunity to write the next chapter in our nation’s racial narrative. “Race 2012″ uses the presidential election as a lens through which to examine America’s increasingly complex racial landscape. With a frank, behind-the-scenes approach, the documentary navigates the high-stakes world of racial pollsters, strategists, spin doctors and candidates as they compete for voters of many groups.

PBS NEWSHOUR DEBATES: 2012 PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE – Tuesday, October 16, 8 PM. The NEWSHOUR presents live coverage and analysis of the presidential candidates’ debate moderated by Candy Crowley, Chief Political Correspondent, CNN and Anchor, Hofstra University.

KTWU ELECTION 2012: KANSAS 2ND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT FORUM – Wednesday, October 17, 7 PM. KTWU in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Kansas brings the candidates together for a political forum on the issues important to voters in the Second Congressional District. Incumbent Lynn Jenkins (R), Tobias Schlingensiepen (D), and Dennis Hawver (L) are scheduled to appear. The forum is moderated by Nick Haines.

PBS NEWSHOUR DEBATES: 2012 PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE – Monday, October 22, 8 PM. The NEWSHOUR presents live coverage and analysis of the presidential candidates’ debate moderated by Bob Schieffer, Chief Washington Correspondent, CBS, Lynn University.
