On this month’s IGI Peggy Lowe of Harvest Public Media provides background on the discovery of genetically modified wheat in Oregon, the March against Monsanto, the impact of climate change on farming and an update on the Farm Bill. She also discusses the proposed sale of Smithfield Foods, an American producer of pork products, to a Chinese corporation and describes “My Farm Roots,” a series that airs on NPR as well as also describing her own farming roots, growing up in rural Nebraska. Becky Sullivan, coordinator of “From the Land of Kansas” describes changes in this program, which promotes the marketing of products produced in Kansas.
